In this column, yours truly Lydia Meredith, and my son Micah Meredith, will speak to “what happy couples/families know.”  Micah is a religious studies graduate of Georgia State University and Administrative Assistant to the College of Law at Georgia State University – he is also a gifted musician and choir director that has won numerous regional choral competitions – and Micah is single with 19 years’ dating experience.  Lydia Meredith, has decades of dating, marital, parenting, and family life experience. Lydia Meredith is an author (The Gay Preacher’s Wife: How my Gay Husband Deconstructed My Life and Reconstructed My Faith, published by Simon and Schuster, October 2016), activist,  founder of Beacon of Hope, Inc. and its Renaissance Learning Center  that served Metro-Atlanta for 21 years strengthening families and communities and lifting poor children and their families out of poverty. She is also an advocate — speaking out strongly for same-sex children and youth. Lydia Meredith is mother of 3 sons and grandmother of 6 grandchildren. She serves on the Advisory Board (Vice-President) of the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (Region 14); and also serves on the board of Pride School Atlanta, Inc. creating a safe space and resources for LGBTQQIAA (Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender/Queer/Questioning/Intersex/Asexual/Allies) educators, students and families. She hold master’s degrees from Vanderbilt University, The Interdenominational Theological Center, and The Andrew Young School of Policy Studies.
