Sexual Assault and Harassment:
Super-her-o Blows the Whistle
Newsweek reports on October 30, 2017, that over 80 women accused Harvey Weinstein, Hollywood producer, of sexual assault or harassment — decades of abuse!
This practice of impunity given to many rich and powerful men allows them to “continue” sexual assault and harassment.
It starts at the top, of course.
President Donald Trump has 5 children by 3 different wives. While married to his third wife, as a Republican presidential nominee, according to the New York Times on October 8, 2016 (online video), Donald Trump was caught on video boasting about trying to have sex with women, while also suggesting he can do anything he wants to women, because he’s “a star” — including grabbing them by the genitalia. And, the HuffPost reports on October 15, 2017, Summer Zervos subpoenaed President Trump to release documents of ALL his sexual assault allegations. Parenthetically, if President Obama had such an immoral record, he wouldn’t have made it to the doghouse — more less the White House. More mindboggling is that (given Donald Trump’s blatant immoral code of ethics), he lands the presidential endorsement of prominent evangelical Christians.

Kudos to the super hero women whistleblowers in recent news — Summer Zervos and Ashley Judd! At first, these women stood alone — standing firm against blows of belittling and ridicule. It’s very sad to know that the moral conscience of this nation, this society, has become so degraded and complicit.
I’m not ashamed to be a whistleblower. Whistleblowers are needed in church and society; because whistleblowers protect and save lives: Murderers stop killing, vandals stop vandalizing, pedophiles stop harming children, rapists stop raping, private area gropers stop groping, cheaters stop cheating, liars stop lying — sexual assaults are stopped and punished and shamed.
Ergo, be a super-her-o for girl generations to come. Don’t compromise your virgin character. Speak truth to riches and power, ordinarily. Don’t wait to be joined in the fight for justice – practice justice as a way of being. Stand, even if you believe you’re standing alone. Dr. King assures us:
“Truth forever on the scaffold,
Wrong forever on the throne,
Yet that scaffold sways the future,
And, behind the dim unknown,
Standeth God within the shadow,
Keeping watch above his own.”
God stands (with you) within the shadow, keeping watch! So soar sister soar!
